Situations When It’s Better to Give than Receive

Posted on October 10, 2012

At Christmas time, Mom was always fond of reminding us “It’s better to give than to receive,” but we always disagreed. With a bit more life experience I’ve realized Mom was onto something and there are in fact multiples instances when it’s far better to give than to receive.

It’s better to give _____ than to receive ______.

A eulogy

The death penalty

A reminder that the McDonald’s ball pit is off limits to adults

Two weeks notice

A box of Kleenex after a positive pregnancy test

A CAT Scan

A life insurance settlement

Unsolicited massages

Just deserts (I know how I spelled it. Look it up.)

A flesh wound

An eviction notice

A shiv

Apples on Halloween

A half-nelson

A diagnosis

A hickey

An oath of vengeance
